Move over Avril Laviegne.  Watch out Gwen Stefani.  You have some compition now.  Only on the lonely streets of Jefferson Township could a girl have so much determination and drive to succeed in a carreer in which many struggle in each day.  So get ready, while Ashley Schoonover is being made a household name.
With all her set backs, whether it be  family problems, poverty, or being the outcast in school, her perserverence has pushed her past all that.  She's not letting all her high school bullies get the best of her or letting her home-life get in her way.  She is not willing to let anyone bring her down, or have anything stop her from here on out.   "I don't like to crying about my problems.  To tell you the truth, I don't like crying period.  If you're going to make it big in this business, you need to be strong.  Which is why I'm kind of glad all these things happened to me, cause they've toughened me up for what I want to do."
At six-teen years of age, not many kids know what they want to be doing in the next five years.  That's not the story here.  Ashley Schoonover, a new and upcoming vocalist, seems like an ordinary teenager.  But instead of studying late at night for tests and exams or hanging out with friends, she spends her nights and weekends practicing guitar and her vocal skills or talking to her mentors in the buisiness.
"It's understandable for kids my age to have dreams and ambitions about what they want to do with their life.  But for me it wasn't so much like that.  I looked at all my options.  I could go to college and become a lawyer, or something of that sort.  But as much as that appeals to other, it just isn't for me.  No matter how hard I try to picture myself in like ten years, all prim and proper, sitting behind a desk, it makes me cringe.  i don't like being confined, I don't like taking directions from other people, and I don't like conforming to what everyone else is doing.  It's something I realized when I was in Middle School, and decided that's not for me.  Music is something that's been dear to my heart, and something I've grown up loving.  And being different is what I strive to do each and every day.  This is me, so accept it.  Cause this is what I'm gunna do."
Still you wonder with such a shaky business as the entertainment business, one would think she plans on going to college to have something to fall back on.  "My mom argues with me all the time about my plans for college.  She told me 'I have no problem with you being in a band, as long as you have something to fall back on', and i just tell her 'I don't plan on falling.  This is what I'm going to do, and that's that."  With that said and the fact that this girl sits up at night, writing more songs, practicing, and figuring out her game plan for what's to come the next day is what many would say if a terrific work-ethic.  But she does keep in check and give herself a break every once in a while by going to the mall.  She even considers herself a modern "mall rat".  As mellow as mellow can get, but always the life of the party, this girl has one spot in this business, and that's on the top.  It's only a matter of time before she's recognized.  Welcome to the business, Ashley!
